This weblog grows out of an ongoing conversation taking place between Mennonites and Orthodoxy in the Lancaster area over the last number of years. A dialogue took place in 2004 at Alvernia College in Reading, Pennsylvania. This was followed by a second dialogue in 2005 at James Street Mennonite Church in Lancaster. Tom Finger and Paul Zehr gave presentations from the Anabaptist perspective, and Fr. Demetrius presented from the Orthodox perspective.
A third event took place on March 3, 2007 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The theme for this event was the view of Scripture and the approach to interpretation of Scripture in each tradition. Brian Miller presented a paper entitled, “Interpreting the Bible: A Mennonite Voice” and Fr. Demetrius again offered the Orthodox perspective.
Beyond these public events, there has been a group of Mennonite pastors and lay leaders who have met with Fr. Demetrius and Fr. Alex.
